ATELIER

Donatella Piccarreta opens the doors of her atelier of Made in Italy wedding dresses 12 January 2019.

A vocation handed down for three generations. A passion between fabrics and laces began in 1955. Donatella Piccarreta inherited her love for wedding dresses from her paternal grandparents who, from the mid-twentieth century, created wedding dresses in a small shop in Bari.

Grandma sewed and grandfather bought fabrics at the time in which Made in Italy was a foregone conclusion. Today, who is a forty-year-old who decides that her clothes are created only with local fabrics is "old-fashioned" news.

After a long experience in the capital, Donatella returns to Bari to follow the family business with a double intention: to defend the inherited tradition and continue to produce clothes and accessories in the family factory, but with an extra sector experience. Donatella realizes her clothes directly on the mannequins flanked by experienced tailors. The garment is then first imagined, then made with a craft and quality work. "I follow all the steps of production, from the first to the last, with fifteen tailors who have worked with our company for many years," explains Donatella, with a single must: made in Italy fabrics, and if it is true that there are many factories that choose to make some production steps outside of Italy, it is also true that many still believe that Italian quality does not exist elsewhere.

"There are still companies willing to focus on raw materials and Italian labor. It is a sacrifice that makes the difference ".

The day of her wedding remains - according to the designer - the greatest dream for all women who in the choice of the perfect dress need to be followed and advised to the fullest. "The wedding dress must reflect the personality of the wearer. Even if fashion dominates at least in the initial idea ", he explains. In the year just passed to rule the law was the marriage of Meghan and Harry of England.

"A confirmation - he says - of the return to the romantic ceremony. On the other hand, the yes day comes once in a lifetime and we are here to help make it perfect ".
